Our Vision

Our vision for the Opelousas Tricentennial is to unite the community as we pay tribute to the past, celebrate the present, and create our future. 2020 will be a milestone celebration of events and programs that reflect the diverse cultural heritage of our area.

What Are We Doing?

The City of Opelousas is planning projects, celebrations, activities and commemorations throughout the year 2020 in acknowledgement of its 300 years of history and tradition, technological innovation, cultural expression, commitment to the land and focus on the future.

St. Landry Parish, Louisiana is a place with Cajun spirit and Creole soul.

Get Involved

We've been here 300 years, but we know we haven't heard from everyone.

Now is your chance to be a part of history.

You can tailor your OPL2020 experience to your comfort level--do you want to be interviewed? Do you want to interview someone special? Do you want to make sure your family photographs make it into a larger collective history of your community? Do you have a preservation project idea? Do you want to participate in our Community Art Mural? We have a variety of ways you can volunteer or participate with us in celebrating this special year.

Let us know!

We Want to Hear Your Story!
